Throughout my ENTIRE life, I've had multiple friends tell me about their Disney World experience. When I told them I've never been and let alone have never been to Florida, their shocked faces always explained what they were thinking. Michiganders always visit Florida for vacations so it was out of the ordinary for me to never have travelled there. When one of my best friends invited me to go with her to Disney, I couldn't resist the offer. Going to the most magical place on earth with one of my best friends?? Heck yes!
The only park I visited was Animal Kingdom so I guess you could say I didn't have the full Disney experience, visiting all the parks and staying at different resorts, however, it was still a blast visiting for one day.
Driving into Disney World was magical. The power lines were shaped like Mickey Mouse ears. We were on the express way and suddenly I saw exit signs that said "Magic Kingdom" or "Hollywood Studios" instead of seeing signs that said "Exit 392 for Tampa" for example.
The first ride my friends and I went on was Kilimanjaro Safari. We sat on a van and our driver took off FAST, zipping through the park. I practically flew out of my seat. We saw so many different animals on our safari. It looked like we were really in a national park, watching exotic animals from all over the world.
Walking around Animal Kingdom was amazing, looking at the different African and Asian themed buildings and architecture. It really felt like I was in a different country.
The world of Pandora took my breath away. I remember when Disney announced they were creating it, and it was automatically on my bucket list to see. Let me tell ya...it did not disappoint.
We also went on the Navaho River Ride which transported me straight to the movie of Avatar. The robots appeared so realistic, it looked like they were alive.
My all time FAVORITE ride I had ever been on in my entire life and I can not stress this enough was the Avatar Flight of Passage. Holy moly guacamole this was the ride of my life. If I could go on this every single day, I would. There is no words that I can express to how amazing it was. I felt like I was actually flying. When I got off the ride, I had the BIGGEST smile on my face. That was the moment I truly felt the "Disney magic".
Sadly, Expedition Everest was closed. When I imagined Disney World, I always pictured this ride. And of course, the one day I was there, it was shut down. My friends tell me it's amazing so if you visit the park, make sure you make it a priority to ride.
We decided to treat ourselves to a fancy dinner at an African restaurant called Tiffins. It was so good. This is the type of place that is so fancy that you don't truly know what you're eating because you don't understand the menu, but you know that it's one of the best things you'll ever eat in your life. This restaurant was very pricey but one hundred percent worth the cost.
The negatives about my trip:
My only regret I had was not buying the Mickey Mouse ears. To this day, I am upset I didn't buy them. I wanted to be the typical, basic girl walking around with Mickey Mouse ears.
The only complaint of my experience was the hot temperature (obviously no one could control this). I don't think I've ever been that warm and I probably sweated out so many toxins in my body. We went to the park in July so if you're deciding when to go, I would plan a trip for early or late in the year, NOT summer. It was also super crowded to the point it was unenjoyable because we waited hours in line (even with fast passes). With a mix of the hot weather and grumpy people waiting in line, there were a few times I just needed to cool down in some A.C. However, Disney gave us free water and there were indoor plays you could see with A.C. Thank you Disney! To sum it up, if you want to have enjoyable weather and have it be less crowded, don't book your trip during summer.
However, this girl's trip created memories that I'll always remember.
I'll be back Disney!
