The gorgeous Montreal, Quebec

Updated: Dec 29, 2020

Montreal is incredibly beautiful and is a perfect mix between a European city vibe and a big city feel. Not to mention, Montreal is super safe and has low crime rates. If you're looking for an area that has culture, churches, skyscrapers, and AMAZING food, Montreal is your type of place. The city streets and menus are in French and the food was different! Montreal has amazing culture that is interesting to learn about.

Old Montreal was personally my favorite place in the city. It truly felt like I was walking through European streets. There were amazing restaurants and shops, overlooking the water. In the back of Old Montreal, you can see the giant skyscrapers and it's cool seeing the difference between the architecture.

The first activity my family and I did was have a guided walking tour. It was interesting listening to the history and also taught us how to navigate the city.

Check out the multiple shops and cafes throughout Old Montreal.

PLEASE! PLEASE eat at Jardin Nelson. My all time favorite restaurant! It's located downtown Old Montreal. Half of the restaurant is outside but there is large canopies covering the sky so it's all in the shade. The place was packed but there was great service and food. Also, there was live jazz music. Not the annoying type of jazz that you want to turn it off. But rather, the type that makes you feel like your at a Frank Sinatra concert. Ugh! I wish I could go back right now.

The best thing I did in Montreal was have mass at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours, one of the most famous and gorgeous churches in the world. Sadly, not many people attended mass. Later that night, my family and I came back for the light show which was one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life! It was so gorgeous and respected that Jesus was truly present in the tabernacle. It was honestly so beautiful and cool to watch the light show and how it helped show off the beautiful church.

One of my favorite things about Montreal was the people were very friendly to us! At restaurants, the waiters would ask, "Are we speaking French or English today?".

We also visited China town! Unfortunately, we didn't eat here but as we peaked through the open doors into the restaurants, they looked so awesome. When I come back, I'll have to check it out.

Luckily, my family and I visited the city during their famous Jazz festival which was AMAZING!!! Like...wow...I want to go back so bad. There was jazz music everywhere! And performers and food and people just having a great time. I want to go back so bad.

Montreal was the perfect destination if you want a place that doesn't feel like North America. It has amazing culture, friendly people, shops, food, music. Enjoy a crepe or poutine on a balcony while you gaze into busy streets below. I loved Montreal. Au revoir Montreal!
